Conference on Industrial Waste Management Southern Region
Today India’s growth story, especially in the last few decades has resulted in a rapid increase in both domestic and industrial waste. The main driver for domestic waste is the rapid urbanization that is slated to change India from a largely rural to a majority urban country in the next decade (2030). In contrast rural waste is largely agricultural in nature and is dispersed over half-a-million habitations making them ‘manageable’. The rapid growth of the Indian industry has led to increased industrial waste generation.
Waste management is one of the most emerging issues all over the world. This is because of the large amount of waste that is being generated daily and the impact of such waste is hazardous for the environment and living beings. There is a clear need for the current approach of waste disposal in India and uses high energy/high technology, to move more towards waste processing. Industrial waste management is a carefully constructed and environmentally conscious plan to dispose of solid, special, or hazardous wastes generated by various industries
The aim of the conference is to be informed on regulatory updates, upskill programme for environmental competent personnel as well as to gain knowledge on best practices and technologies on reducing and recycling industrial solid waste, air emission and effluent. The presentation of best practices, promotion of the sector and raising awareness on this issue, as well as to distil the best solutions through discussion on the main issues and planning the next steps are also the goals of the conference.
