MUMBAI: Birla-owned UltraTech Cement NSE 1.99 %, India’s largest cement producer, is tapping the overseas bond market for the first time amid signs of improving demand for construction works and growing environmental concerns over cement manufacturing. The company launched a roadshow to raise up to $400 million via overseas bond sales on Thursday. Andhra Pradesh receives solar bids for 6,400 MW at Rs 2.48/kWh

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh said it has received bids for 6,400 megawatts of solar power plants at a low tariff of Rs 2.48 per kilowatt an hour (kWh) through reverse tenders and that it has ensured savings of Rs 3,800 crore in the first year. In a late Thursday statement, the state government said it expects to save Rs 50,000 crore during the project’s concession period of 30 years, helping it to successfully meet the subsidy burden on account of the supply of free power to farmers. Power ministry to launch manufacturing programme for critical equipment

The Ministry of Power will launch a domestic manufacturing programme for critical power and renewable energy equipment at an outlay of Rs 1,500 crore in the coming financial year. The scheme titled 'Manufacturing Zones under Atmanirbhar Bharat Package' in the Union Budget would entail setting up three manufacturing zones in a year. These zones are divided into three categories– coastal, land-locked and hilly states. The scheme would call for offers from the states to submit applications to set up these zones. Barring PowerGrid, total investments by power PSUs to rise 19 pc to ₹60k cr in FY22

New Delhi: The government has increased total investments by eight state-owned power companies, including REC Ltd, by over 19 per cent to ₹59,990.52 crore for 2021-22. This compares to revised estimate of ₹50,311.03 crore for the current financial year. REC Ltd witnessed the highest increase of over 69 per cent in investment to ₹9,300 crore, against ₹5,500 crore budget estimates for 2020-21. New Delhi: The government has decided not to bring any new policy or provide support to gas-based power plants at the moment because states are reluctant to offer certain concessions for these projects, Parliament was informed on Tuesday. Clean air boost for Pune, 5 other cities in Maharashtra

PUNE: Six cities in Maharashtra — Nashik, Aurangabad, Pune, Greater Mumbai, Nagpur and Vasai Virar — are among the 42 cities, in 15 states, that will reap the benefits of the budgetary allocation of Rs 2,200 crore for air quality improvement. Microsoft Corp. said its climate fund will invest in Swiss carbon-removal startup Climeworks AG, and that the company will base executive pay partially on meeting sustainability goals.
