World's forests were wiped out in global catastrophe 250 mln yrs ago

Washington, October 2 (ANI): In a new research, scientists have determined that tiny organisms that covered the planet more than 250 million years ago, appear to be a species of ancient fungus which were able to thrive in dead wood during this period because the world's forests had been wiped out. Scientists from Imperial College London and other universities in the UK, USA and The Netherlands, conducted the research.

 

US to help capture clean energy from Ch'garh mines

in climate change strategy, the US will fund a feasibility
study on capturing coal bed methane to produce clean energy
from a mine block in Chhatisgarh. The feasibility study, to be taken up by a private firm,
will be funded by the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA)
aimed at setting up facilities for capturing CBM, commonly

At Yale-sponsored summit, leaders discuss energy policy

Officials from around the world gathered Thursday to share perspectives from the developing and developed world on climate change.

Leaders from U.S. and Indian government agencies, research institutions, corporations and nonprofits met in Washington at the U.S.-India Energy Partnership Summit to discuss energy issues at an event co-sponsored by Yale. Climate-change adaptation to cost $75-90 bn a year: World Bank

BANGKOK: Climate-change adaptation is
likely to cost developing countries $75-90 bn annually from 2010 to 2050,
according to a study released Wednesday by the World Bank.

Based on
an assumption that global temperatures would rise at least two degrees Celsius
over the next four decades, adaptation costs for the developing world in such
