60 more solar monitoring units to be set up across India

Government will install 60 more solar radiation monitoring stations across the country besides introducing a scheme to encourage people to generate power from rooftop installations.

The move is aimed at enabling states and developers of solar power projects take investment decisions based on scientific rationale.

"We have already set up 51 solar monitoring stations for assessment of solar power in the country, which we are going to expand...60 more such stations shall come, and very soon entire country would be covered," Joint Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy,... Read more..

Emissions blame game has started

A SENSE of panic is setting in among many campaigners for drastic cuts in global carbon emissions. It is becoming obvious that the highly trumpeted meeting set for Copenhagen this December will not deliver a binding international treaty that will make a significant difference to global warming.

After lofty rhetoric and big promises, politicians are starting to play the blame game. Developing countries blame rich countries for the lack of progress. Many blame the US, which will not have cap-and-trade legislation in place before Copenhagen.
