Enel Green Power Partnering With Powerhive To Bring Electrification To Rural Kenya

Enel Green Power, a 2015 Zayed Future Energy finalist, and the mini-grid technology provider Powerhive are partnering together to develop and operate solar-powered mini-grids in rural Kenya, according to recent reports.

SunEdison reducing debts at a high price

Major renewable energy provider SunEdison has secured new term loans to reduce debts but carry an interest rate of LIBOR + 10.0% per annum through mid-2018.

The company expects its second recent tranche of loans to reduce debts by US$738 million on existing loans. The company expects to receive US$725 million in gross cash proceeds from the Second Lien Facilities.

The process of implementing the government’s Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana (UDAY), announced on 5 November, is now underway. On Tuesday, power minister Piyush Goyal said states accounting for one-fifth of the Rs.4.3 trillion in debt accumulated by the state power distribution companies (discoms) have agreed to sign up for the scheme. IIFCL to raise Rs1,000 crore from second tranche of infrastructure debt fund

State-owned India Infrastructure Finance Co. Ltd (IIFCL) on Tuesday said it is in the process of raising Rs.1,000 crore from second tranche of infrastructure debt fund (IDF) to finance renewal energy projects.
