New renewable energy policy soon

Under the proposed policy, land acquisitions and conversions from agricultural to non-agricultural use would be simplified for those setting up solar plants, said G V Balaram, Managing Director, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KRE­D­L).

The draft policy has been submitted to the government. “Entrepreneurs who are putting up solar plants need not wait for land conversion from agricultural to non-agricultural purposes. Sebi to make corporate, green bonds investor friendly

The board of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) in its meet on Monday is expected to ease norms for trading in corporate bonds. The regulator is also likely to frame the guidelines to list the so-called green bonds on domestic exchanges.

To make the bond market transparent and investor friendly, Sebi will address the issue of listing of such privately placed bonds on the exchange platform for secondary market transactions.

Indian firms line up for Welspun's green projects

Hero Future Energies, ReNew Power and Reliance Cleangen are evaluating the renewable energy portfolio of Welspun Enterprises. Welspun Renewables, wholly-owned green energy arm of Welspun Enterprises, is selling equity stakes in its solar and wind power projects.

SoftBank, earlier keen to pick up stakes in the projects, has dropped out.

Solar rooftop systems subsidy will remain at 30%

Solar rooftop systems will continue to be subsidized by 30%, despite the Union ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE)'s June announcement of hacking it by half.
 
Industry experts are not thrilled about the decision, citing state incompetency in doling out the subsidy on time, possibility of poor quality products from suppliers while leaving manufacturing costs unchanged.

World Bank launches $500 mln carbon market scheme

The World Bank on Monday launched a $500 million market-based scheme designed to help developing countries pay for emission reductions and combat climate change.

Germany, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland have jointly pledged an initial $250 million to get the so-called Transformative Carbon Asset Facility (TCAF) up and running next year, while the bank hopes further contributions will take the eventual total to $500 mln.

India’s pharma sector pips global growth

The global pharma industry is set to grow at an annual rate of 5% between 2015 and 2020 to cross $1.3 trillion by 2020 while the Indian market is expected to grow over 15% annually in this period, according to a study by UBM India, the Indian arm of London-based media and events company.

The report says the global pharma market is currently estimated to be over $1 trillion in value, of which the US accounts for over 40%, followed by the European Union and Japan.

Advanced Optronic Devices, Syska to set up Rs500 crore LED plant in Telangana

Chinese LED light maker Advanced Optronic Devices (China) Co. Ltd. and Pune-based Syska LED Lights Pvt. Ltd. will together set up a LED manufacturing plant in Telangana.

India's Orient Green says loss expanded to USD 10.6m in fiscal H1

Indian firm Orient Green Power Co Ltd (BOM:533263) reported a consolidated net loss of INR 710.7 million (USD 10.6m/EUR 10m) for the six months through September 2015, widening from INR 168.1 million a year before.

The wind and biomass power plant operator posted INR 2.35 billion in revenue for March-September. In comparison, its top line result stood at INR 2.82 billion in the same six months of 2014.
